Yoga Basics

For those new to Yoga this would be a perfect place to begin. This class focuses on the fundamental building blocks of Hatha Yoga practice. We will emphasize on the alignment, building strength, pacing and breathing along with the postures, preparing students for all corresponding levels of yoga.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga is the foundation of all Yoga. This Hatha Yoga class focuses on Asanas, Pranayama, Mudra and Samadhi. It is designed to build on the basics of yoga and teach more intermediate to higher-level poses with a primary focus on alignment. The practitioners who have some existing foundation of Yoga and are willing to adapt more challenging poses will particularly benefit from this class.

Slow Flow

This class is a tender flow of basic yoga postures connecting them through focus on breathing and mindfulness. This style is healing and will help in building flexibility while being engaged in a relaxing class that moves at an effortless slower pace. Practitioners can envisage lots of deep stretching and prolonged floor poses. All levels welcome!

Vinyasa

Vinyasa yoga is popular and is taught at most studios and gyms. “Vinyasa” means linking breath with movement. The postures are usually done in a flowing sequence, or "vinyasa flow." The fluid movements can be memorized and done as a moving meditation, almost like a dance.
The popularity of this style of yoga comes from the sensual movements, pleasant music, usually (but not always) practiced in a dark room, or sometimes by candlelight and with the eyes closed.

Astanga

Ashtanga means “eight limbs” and encompasses a yogic lifestyle. Most people identify Ashtanga as traditional Indian yoga. Like Vinyasa yoga, the Ashtanga yoga asanas (postures) synchronise breath with movement as you move through a series of postures.
It was brought to the United States by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in the early 20th century. The series of postures are practiced the same way every time and consist of Sun Salutation A, Sun Salutation B, a standing sequence, and a closing sequence.

Yin

Yin yoga is a meditative practice that allows your body to become comfortable in a pose without doing any work (strength). It focuses on lengthening the connective tissues within the body. It is meant to compliment Yang yoga, or muscle-forming yoga practices.
If Yang is active, then Yin is passive, meaning the muscles are allowed to relax with gravity and rest. This is usually performed with the assistance of props, and there is little or no music in class.
Still not sure which style is best for you; just message or call us.
